A project by Design2context Research Institute, Zurich University of the Arts. Funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (May 2010 – May 2012) and Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia.

Due to globalization, typefaces from Asian, Latin and Arabic origin come together with increasing frequency and characterize the appearance of international institutions, universities, trade fair sites, airports, internet portals and city districts. The coexistence of characters from different cultural backgrounds more and more affects the basic principles of written communication, principles which haven't been really explored yet.
